Intro to self

Hi Everyone, My name is Libby Amponsah. I am in a group with Chloe Thomas and Robyn Archard and we are making a music video to the song "Moneybox by Eliza Doolittle" I hope you all enjoy my well constructed blog.

HERE'S MY FACE.

Filming diary

Day 5 ( Re-Filming Day 3)

Who we are filming: Robyn Archard

What we are filming: Robyn riding whimsically on a bike

Where we are filming:  At The Hampton's (Worcester park)

Things needed: Bicycle, One outfit, Bicycle basket, another car

Duration: 2 hours

How much of our music video is this going to take up: This will not take up a lot of our video but will be used as the most used "filler"

Importance: Very, once we got to our location and started filming we realized just how good it looked. As we first saw it in the video "High by Cleo Sol" this video was seen as one our inspirations.

Difficulty: Quite difficult as we needed to filming tracking, panning and moving hots of our main star on the bicycle we needed to find someone who could drive to do so whilst me and Chloe filmed out star from the window.

Day 4;

Who we are filming: Robyn Archard.

What we are filming:  Our main star sitting on a grand chair, other small scenes.

Where we are filming: At Harry's house.

Things needed: Chair, One outfit, Teddy bear, mini tea cups

Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes

How much of our music video is this going to take up: What we are filming will just be random shots we will use to fill up space.

Importance:  This depends, it could be very useful if we finish editing the larger part and notice a lot of space to add in random shots. Potentially NONE of this could be used.

Difficulty: Not hard, A relaxed filming day.

Day 3;

Filming in The Hamptons was un achievable as the tape to record our footage was forgotten!!!

Day 2 (Re-Filming Day 1);

Who we are filming: Robyn Archard (Female lead)

What we are filming: Robyn singing in front of white screen (Main singing shoot)

Where we are filming: In Robyn's house. (Living room).

Things needed: Wrapping paper (Used as white screen),Flowers, Puppets,Piggy bank, various playful items

Duration: Roughly 5 hours, including outfit and makeup changes.

How much of our music video is this going to take up: This is the most substantial part of our filming process.

Importance: Without this there would be no singing parts in our music video.

Difficulty: Very difficult, the long session of filming lowered our moral.

Reason for choice of artist

Eliza Doolittle

The reason my group decided to use Eliza Doolittle because if you were to sum up Eliza Doolittle's stage persona it is the exact words that we would use to sum up our music video "Fun, kooky and cute" she would be a perfect choice as our artist also because she is an English star, so by making this music video for her we are supporting music that is from our country. As we wanted our music video to be friendly for all ages especially the younger generation we wanted our music to be friendly with no use of swear words or profanities. Eliza is not on to use these things in her music which also means we are supporting good clean music that can be enjoyed by all ages. Overall Eliza Doolittle is a perfect artist.

Mood board

Pitch for our music Video

Our music video is going to embody; cute, kooky and fun. Because of the playfulness of our chosen song "Money box by Eliza Doolittle" we decided to make our music video completely fun, as our video doesn't exactly have a higher meaning nor does it possess any subliminal cono or denotations we thought it would be refreshing to just make a fun music video. The song we have chosen has the message of "Money doesn't buy you happiness" so we have added some aspects of that in our music video. The main thing we want our music to be is fun refreshing and entertaining.

This is a picture of some of the random fun pictures that inspired the theme of our music video.

This is our main pitch for our ideas and we hope they will be successful. We have looked into how they fit in with codes and conventions of different music videos, and they fit most closely with a pop video. We have drawn some very close comparisons with Jessie J's video 'Price Tag'. Typically, pop videos feature performance, and this is a major aspect of our video so fits in with the codes and conventions well. Similarly, the scene we plan on the bike has been used numerous time in videos I have researched, for instance Eliza Doolittle's video 'Roller blades', and Cleo Sol's video 'High'.

Location Research

For filming in "The Hampton's" we needed to not only transport our bicycle to our location but also film the bicycle whilst in a moving vehicle. So for that reason we needed another driver to drive alongside the bicycle whilst me and Chloe filmed. As this is all very tricky and somewhat dangerous we need a place in which was a quite neighborhood but also possessed the "American suburban" area type look that we sought after. "The Hampton's"would be perfect to film our music video in as it is quiet therefore we will not get disrupted by other passing vehicles.

Believe it or not the picture below is of "The Hampton"... Pretty!

Preparation for filming

  • Two cameras
  • A large chair
  • A house
  • A "nice" kitchen
  • Various props (Puppets, toys)
  • A licensed driver
  • Several outfit changes
  • Wrapping paper
  • Tri-Pod
  • 3 tapes
  • 3 lights
  • Schedule when we could film in people houses.
  • Schedule when our licensed driver could help us film
  • Bring our storyboard with us at all times

Filming diary

Day 1;

Who we are filming: Emma Byrne (Female lead)

What we are filming: Black and white screen- Main singing shot

Where we are filming: In the school facilities (The photography room)

Things needed: Extra lights, Black and white back boards, Several outfit choices

Duration: Lasted for about 2 hours

How much of our music video is this going to take up: 3/4 of our video, this our most important piece of filming.

Importance: It is very important that this part goes well as it is our most substantial part of our music video

Difficulty: 10 This did not work well at all. We used none of the footage filmed this day in our music video and re-cast our female lead.

Star Image

Christina Aguilera, Is on the worlds largest selling recording artists achieving MTV awards, rolling stones awards and two Grammy's. Her career started at the tender age of 13 in the musical TV program "The Mickey Mouse Club" Christina was seen as a squeaky clean pop princess with outstanding vocals.

Christina then proceeded to bring out her debut single "Genie in a bottle" which stayed top of the "Billboard Hot 100" for five weeks. The image seen in this video for this star was still squeaky clean, girl next door teenager, her image was extremely important at this stage of Christina’s career as loads of girl globally were looking up to her, parents where more than happy for their young daughters to look up to this good role model performer.

As Christina Aguilera’s artistry continues successfully she is described to be somewhat of a chameleon with her star image, ranging from her Marilyn Monroe style blonde bombshell look, to her dreadlocked bohemian child look. She is forever seen as an ever changing artist which is believed to be her secret to constantly being “Current” the likes of Rihanna and Madonna are both seen as these ever changing artists. Therefore their fans are always waiting to see what image they are going to portray next.

“Genie In a Bottle” – Pop princess

“What a girl wants” – Pop Princess, Colour and slightly tighter clothes were added to her look.

“Dirrty” – Christina Aguilera is now renamed “Xtina” this is her extremely edgy side, where her clothes were described as “Soft porn” and her dance style was censored in some countries. This look Aguilera inherited was a hit with both girls and boys liking this raunchier side of her.

“Beautiful” - This is Christina Aguilera’s “Freedom look” she was making a statement to the world about what is accepted in society and how she felt about it, her dreadlocks stayed but she was a lot more child friendly dressed and her music was coming from a different angle.

“Cant Hold us down”- Christina Aguilera turns ghetto, making music with the likes of Nelly and Lil Kim, Aguilera’s inner rough Ecuadorian flare was shown thoroughly throw this look.

“Fighter” - This was the time in which Christina was edgy but not in a raunchy or sexed up manner but was seen in a gothic light in which black was her popular colour of clothing.

“Candyman” - Christina is at her Marilyn Monroe bombshell stage in which even her music took a 1950 spin.

“Bionic” - This is Christina Aguilera’s final change, not seen as popular in the charts. Many people feel that it was a style of music and image that didn’t suit her, the robot type feminist look was not fitting for the star.
