Record Company


Island def Jam Music Group is an record company which formed in 1999. Many other record companies merge into the Island Def Jam Music Group including its sister companies Def Jam Recordings and Island Records. Considering this is a highly successful record company, Island Def Jam represents an intimate number of artists ranging from 40-45 including the likes of Rihanna, Kanye West and Justin Bieber. Not only is Island Def Jam a widely successful record company but it also ventures out and has six labels under its names (Disturbing tha peace, Island Records, Mercury Records, Motown Records and Roc-A-Fella Records). Island Def Jam have also recently began to become a globally representing record label and add artists from the United Kingdom to their ever growing company. (The wanted & Duffy) Considering Island Def Jams Music Groups short life, they are already seen as media giants in the world of music and will be named easily by music lovers world wide.




Island Def Jam Music Group's parent company is Universal Music Group, which is the largest media conglomerate in world. Meaning the success of Island Def Jam is not only for this individual record company but will heighten the success of Universal Music Group as a whole.

Each label under the name of Island Def Jam does not have its own websites but "sub-websites" can be located from Island Def Jams website, on this they list every artist they represent and differentiate each artists specific music group with said music groups logo on the left of their picture.
